Not too long ago, at the start of the 20th century, São Tomé e Príncipe was called the “chocolate island”. The founders of Satocao wanted to restore this glorious past, by reviving locally top quality cocoa, based on sustainable agriculture. Fortunately, the country benefits from an exceptional geographical situation and combines all the qualities conducive to the harmonious development of the cocoa tree: volcanic soil of remarkable fertility, the warm temperatures of the equatorial climate, lush shade forests, as well as ideal hydrometry and humidity values.

With the care that is once again given to the plantations today, everything is in place to produce the cocoa of São Tomé e Príncipe under the sign of excellence
